ELTON JOHN – THE MEASURE OF A MAN (ROCKY V)

by admin on July 27, 2010

Video Taken by ROCKY V Lyric: These battered hands are all you own This broken heart just turned to stone Go hang your glory on the wall There comes a time when castles fall And all that’s left is shifting in the sand You’re out of time, you’re out of place Look at your face That’s the measure of a man This coat that fits you like a glove These dirty streets you learned to love So welcome back my long lost friend You’ve been to hell and back again And God alone knows how you crossed that span Back on the beat, back to the start Trust in your heart That’s the measure of a man It’s the fire in the eyes, the lines on the hand It’s the things you understand Permanent ties from which you once ran That’s the measure of a man You’ve come full circle, now you’re home Without the gold, without the chrome And this is where you’ve always been You had to lose so you could win And rise above your troubles while you can Now you can love, now you can lose Now you can choose That’s the measure of a man It’s the fire in the eyes, the lines on the hand It’s the things you understand Permanent ties from which you once ran That’s the measure of a man You’ve come full circle, now you’re home Without the gold, without the chrome And this is where you’ve always been You had to lose so you could win And rise above your troubles while you can Now you can love, now you can lose Now you can choose That’s the measure of a man

One of the best films series ever created and one of the best songs ever made. I am man enough to say I get choked up when I hear this song. It’s not easy being a man.

Rocky v, was only good because of this song and the montage at the end in my opinion.

This song fits perfectly with The Prince of Egypt. Doesn’t it? Man, I just love Stallone. What a great role model. … heh, man I love that guy.

@WilliB1580 I think he should have left after Rocky 4

WilliB1580 July 27, 2010 at 3:24 pm

Sylvester should of left the saga at rocky 5 since this was the perfect ending to a great franchise.

I never understood the hate for this film, it’s achrome” great story. Rocky is brought back to all that matters. He may lose all the useless material possessions like the mansion and the sports cars, but he regains his self-respect. He has Adrian, his son, his family and his community in Philly. The message is, that’s all a man needs. Not riches.

Thank you for posting this. I watch this movie on tv sometimes just to see the ending credits with this song. Usually they cut it out for some stupid promo. Again thank you for posting this!

fabriziobarrera July 27, 2010 at 4:30 pm

This is the best ending for an story. Rocky 6 was unnecesary.

xxxxsjdxxxx July 27, 2010 at 4:38 pm
